Movers & Shakers

We see you: Igee Okafor

The well-traveled influencer/editor/style guru is on a mission to encourage men into “looking, feeling and being their best selves.”

The people—young, old, and everyone in between—who most intrigue us.

Why we’re watching him: The suave 27-year-old is the founder/editor-in-chief of digital marketing site Bond Official and the tastemaker du jour for men’s style.

Pedigree: Okafor grew up in Nigeria before moving with his family to Hampton, Virginia.  “People there had these preconceived notions of what it was like to be from Africa,” he told the website, I Am An Immigrant. Okafor quickly showed them, getting a head start on his multi-hyphenate career by joining his school’s dance team, marketing, and drama clubs before moving on to St. John’s University in New York.

Catch him in the wild:  When he’s not filming trips to the Maldives or Thailand, you can catch Okafor flexing his next-level brand partnership chops in the holiday edit for Banana Republic, riding in a Bentley, lounging at the Four Seasons Hotel, or hosting a dinner party with Mumm champagne. (Basically, every brand wants to be in business with Okafor at the moment.)

It’s work, really: Okafor told ONE37pm, “When you share your stories on Instagram, it looks like you’re having a great time all the time . . . but you have to remember that I’m working. I wake up really early, around 5:30 a.m. From 5:30 to 9 a.m., I contemplate articles and go running. I’m a very strict person.”

Groomed to go: Okafor is very strict about his party prep, too. “I enjoy loud disco music for the process. I want to feel sexy, confident, and empowered so the products I use have to aid that cause. I use a cleanser, an exfoliator, and then a face mask. After I’ve massaged the face masks into my skin, I include a brightening serum, and a hydrating face cream,” he has said.

Party spirit animal: The cheetah, known for its speed, quick wit, and flexibility.

Prediction: Okafor has clocked Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford as role models because of how they moved from fashion to home accessories and film. “I would like to see someone who looks like me able to accomplish all of these things,” he has said. So would the rest of us. Have at it, Igee Okafor!
