Movers & Shakers

We See You: Micaela Erlanger

The celebrity stylist, who recently announced her divorce on Instagram, is moving on—and taking back her power.

DP’s series of the people—young, old, and everyone in between—who most intrigue us.

Why we’re watching her: Manhattan born, Connecticut bred Erlanger, 38, is responsible for some of the most memorable red carpet moments for Amal Clooney, Meryl Streep, Blake Lively, Michelle Dockery, and bestie Lupita Nyong’o, who co-starred as a bridesmaid in Erlanger’s marriage.

Pedigree: After graduating from Parsons, Erlanger was mentored by famed stylist, the late Annabel Tollman. She recently flexed her entrepreneurial muscle by taking a class in Harvard Business School’s Exec Ed program.

The bride wears Prada: Erlanger, who styles weddings for private clients, married restaurateur William ‘Mac’ Osborne in 2022 in a three-day Miami blowout. She wore three Prada gowns while Common serenaded the new couple. The shindig was covered by Vogue. (This may not be such a good thing. See: Vogue wedding curse: J.Lo, Britney, we could go on.)

The divorcee wears her heart on her sleeve: Erlanger announced her divorce on Instagram a year later. “No one’s life is perfect,” she told Forbes. “There was a lot of shame and guilt.” Sharing her news spurred an outpouring of support and provided the opportunity for deep soul-searching, she said.

Catch her in the wild: Erlanger’s retreat of choice is the Rythmia Life Advancement Center in Costa Rica, where she became a proponent of ayahuasca. “The idea of attending a retreat where I might be vulnerable and exposed filled me with a mix of skepticism and anxiety,” she wrote in the New York Post. The first experience was so healing that she plans on returning to Club Meds once a year.

Party spirit animal: The butterfly, known for transformation, creativity, romance, and celebrations.

Prediction: Erlanger is excited about her new single-in-the city-life and we’re excited to see it. “Chapter 2 is about me, and I am taking back my power,” she told Forbes. “I am channeling my feminine energy, vulnerability, and honesty in the only way I know how—authentically.
